kids

Son in Phoenix has found out that he has a teen aged daughter. Now he wants to have me give him a family history. he has two other daughters (4 and 5) that he has to take care of first in my opinion. Went to a minor league ball game last nite. Lots of fun and a heck of a lot cheaper than the Devil Rays games. Need rain badly in this part of the world.

new cold war?

Seems that Vlad the Impaler is back - now with shield penetrating ICBM's. Wonder if the duck and cover films will be shown in schools again? Being an old hippie at heart, I cringe at the thought of an escalating arms race.

Memorial Day

Butterflied lamb leg and fresh corn on the bar-b-que. Nice Pino Noir and, of course a flag. Doesn't seem that many really remember that this holiday is about remembering the dead - well over 3400 and counting in Iraq. I served my time, but I don't recommend it to anyone unless it is for disaster relief and stuff like that. People show up at our yard when they smell the food. I cook out a lot - keeps the house cooler.

Anyway all of you that might read my meanderings. Happy and safe Memorial Day.

today, iraq, etc.

5:30 AM. News reports 6 more dead American guys in IRAQ. More hate toward Americans all over the world. What legacy are we leaving our grandkids. Billions of dollars going away, Americans without health care, doesn' t anyone in Washington give a crap? We're going to the farmers market this morning for fresh veggies, etc. No rain in this part of the world. Drought, fire danger real high. Ain't mornings great to start the day. Fortunately I have my own blend of coffee - Italian roast, Espresso and Sumatra - gets this old bod jump started in the AM. Arthritis not too bad this morning.
Looks like I will be teaching 6 classes in the Fall and winter coming up. Revising some of my syllabuses. Got to buckle down and get my new book finished. Cindy perhaps will need less Percocet today. The hernia operation is bogged down with the good ole paperwork for workers comp. What a hassle.
